Raw materials prices were RMB 8.0/kg in Hainan and RMB 8.1/kg in Guangdong, increasing by RMB 0.4-0.5/kg in Guangdong post-Dragon Boat Festival due to limited supply. Farmers began selling smaller quantities of fish in anticipation of higher prices. The natural occurrence of larger-sized fish was scarce, accounting for less than 10% of the supply. Predictions for the fourth quarter suggested a 40% reduction in materials supply, and despite these challenging conditions, the RMB exchange rate’s potential depreciation was a point of discussion.
